Objective
The avionics technician is responsible for performing aircraft line troubleshooting and work in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the FAA and the repair station. The avionics technician is responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying technical data to the task at hand.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform line avionics work specializing in navigation, radio, radar systems, and other electronic systems, including installation, calibration, etc.
- Read and interpret wire schematics and blue prints and be familiar with applicable FAA regulations.
- Must maintain a working knowledge of airworthiness standards and FAA regulations with the ability to find the needed information in various publications and establish standards and verify airworthiness of repairs, modifications and installations.
- Accurate completion of data on forms, tags, work instructions and other required documentation used in performance of their job duties.
- Perform corrective action and technician sign-off on discrepancy and computerized maintenance forms for all articles undergoing maintenance. All corrective sign-offs will be documented referencing acceptable and/or approved data.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine maintenance schedule and requirements

Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Maintenance Director.
Work Environment
This position works inside a hangar and outside in all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft. This position may be exposed to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, to include but not limited to:
- Position requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Good physical condition, frequent lifting, carrying weight up to 35 pounds, and occasional pushing/pulling weights up to 100 pounds.
- Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery
- Outside work in all types of weather conditions.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a non-exempt position.
This position includes shift work which requires working evenings and weekends, and on scheduled company holidays.
Travel
Travel is not expected for this position, but may occasionally be required for specific job functions.
Required Education and Experience
- Three (3) years' experience in the field of troubleshooting and repairing avionics systems most common to mid-size corporate aircraft, to include pitot-static work and transponder calibrations.
- Prior aircraft ground handling experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
- Participate in DOT drug and alcohol screening program
