GSE Mechanic


Objective

The GSE mechanic is responsible to provide preventative maintenance, major and minor repairs on all types of ground service equipment.


Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on company ground
  2. Perform complex repairs on vehicles, both electrical and
  3. Service fuel farm equipment and coordinate annua filter changes and
  4. Perform diagnostic procedures (including electrical) on vehicles and equipment to determine repair needs.
  5. Order, receive, and inventory parts and supplies
  6. Keep maintenance records of all equipment, and report any heavy maintenance requirements to management and communicate as needed with contract maintenance personnel.
  7. Assist Line Service Technicians on ramp as needed

Competencies

  1. Ability to interpret printed and computerized maintenance manuals
  2. Familiar with various maintenance tooling, jacks, overhead cranes, hoists, and other required tools.
  3. Skilled in identifying faults in circuits, components, and control systems using systematic troubleshooting methods.
  4. Capable of performing safe, accurate repairs on both low voltage and high voltage systems.
  5. Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  6. Able to trace circuits, verify continuity, and understand component relationships to support accurate diagnostics and repairs.
  7. Strong working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems commonly found in GSE.
  8. Hands-onexperienceperformingfullmechanicalandelectricaloverhaulsona wide range of GSE assets.
  9. Skilled in disassembly, inspection, repair, replacement, and reassembly of major components.
  10. Competent in welding and metal fabrication to support structural repairs and custom modifications on GSE.
  11. Able to perform MIG/TIG/arcwelding (adjust based on your needs), cut and shape metal, and fabricate brackets, mounts, or reinforcements.

Work Environment

This position works outside in all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft. This position may be exposed to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery.

Education, Experience, and Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Four (4) years on the job experience as a diesel & gas powered vehicle technician
  2. ASE certification preferred
  3. Two (2) years technical accredited training-ground service equipment maintenance preferred
  4. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  5. Acceptable driving record
  6. Ability to pass a background check
